Our Story

Satsumaimo (Japanese Sweet Potato) has long been a favorite street food in Japan. The freshly baked, ripe, sweet Satsumaimo is not only delicious but also a nutritious vegetable, rich in dietary fiber, vitamins C and E, and potassium.

You can get a wide variety of authentic Japanese food such as sushi and ramen in NYC, but why is there no Satsumaimo? This question prompted us to open “Hello, yam”.

Our mission is bringing Japanese Satsumaimo
to the people in New York.

We're all about quality. Each Satsumaimo, skillfully cultivated by our skilled farmer in Kagoshima, Japan, undergoes a meticulous 100-day aging process to ensure that only the best ones make it to Hello, yam! . We use one of the sweetest varieties, Beni Haruka, so you can enjoy their natural sweetness without any added sugar.

We take great pride in proclaiming ourselves as the exclusive purveyor in NYC offering streight-imported, premium-grade Japanese Satsumaimo.

Our invitation extends to individuals of all ages, beckoning them to partake in the delightful experience at Hello, yam!
